Trustpilot reviews that break the guidelines
NetClearer flags Trustpilot reviews that appear to break Trustpilot’s guidelines: no real experience, a conflict of interest, a reward, personal data or abuse. We prepare the report and the proof for webshops and service companies in the Netherlands, Denmark and the rest of our countries. €20 incl. VAT per review. Trustpilot’s team decides.

Where Trustpilot matters most
Trustpilot started in Denmark, and around 10,300 Danish websites show its widget. In the Netherlands it is the most used review platform, on about 34,000 websites (wmtips). For a Dutch or Danish webshop, the TrustScore is often printed next to the checkout button. A few unfair one-star reviews can move that score for months.
Common cases: a buyer who never ordered and confuses you with another shop, a rival who posts under several names, a review that names your support agent and quotes her email address, or a customer who threatens to post a bad review unless you pay back more than the order.
Grounds Trustpilot accepts
Trustpilot’s guidelines for reviewers set the rules. A review should describe a genuine experience, usually from the last 12 months. The author may not be the owner, a family member, an employee, a shareholder or a competitor, and may not have been offered an incentive. Reviews may not contain other people’s personal data, hate, threats, obscene words, defamation or advertising.
| Problem | Guideline | What we attach |
|---|---|---|
| No order or contact matches the reviewer | Genuine experience | Order search by name, email and date |
| Reviewer works for a competitor | Conflict of interest | Public links between the profile and the company |
| Review asks for money or a gift | Incentive or extortion | Messages from the reviewer |
| Staff name, phone number or email in the text | Personal information | The quoted passage |
| Insults or threats | Harmful content | The text and any earlier contact |
Trustpilot can ask the reviewer for proof of the experience. When there is no order behind a review, this step often settles the case. We prepare that request in a way Trustpilot’s team can check quickly.
How we work on a Trustpilot case
- You send the review link and, if you have it, the order number or the reason you think it is fake.
- You give us access as a user of your Trustpilot business account, or a signed mandate. No password is shared.
- We flag the review with the matching guideline and a short note, and ask for proof of experience where it fits.
- We watch for Trustpilot’s answer and send any extra data its team asks for. We open your case the same day you order.
- If Trustpilot keeps the review, we tell you why and whether a second route, such as a GDPR request for personal data, makes sense.
Limits we respect
A genuine customer can post a negative review on Trustpilot, and Trustpilot defends that right. We do not flag a real experience just because it is negative, and we never post or buy positive reviews to balance a score. The decision is Trustpilot’s. Dutch sellers who charge only on success ask between €129.99 and €170 per Trustpilot review; we charge €20 incl. VAT per request because we sell the work, not the outcome. No refund once your request has been filed.
Frequently asked questions
Can Trustpilot delete my whole company page?
Trustpilot’s model is that anyone can review a company, so a request to close a whole page rarely succeeds and we do not sell it. What we can do is report the reviews that break the guidelines and help you reply to the others, so the page shows a fair picture.
What happens when Trustpilot asks the reviewer for proof?
Trustpilot may hide the review while it checks. If the reviewer sends a valid order or invoice, the review normally stays or comes back. If the reviewer sends nothing useful, Trustpilot can take it down. We tell you the result as soon as we see it.
Do you also handle Kiyoh and Klantenvertellen?
Yes. Many Dutch and Flemish webshops use Kiyoh or Klantenvertellen next to Trustpilot. Their rules and procedures differ, so we have a separate page for them. The price per review request is the same, €20 incl. VAT. One case can cover all three platforms.
A customer posted my employee’s name. Is that enough to report it?
Often yes. Trustpilot’s guidelines do not allow other people’s personal information in reviews. Naming a staff member in a neutral way may be tolerated, but a full name with contact details, or an attack on that person, is a good ground for a report.
