Tripadvisor reviews for hotels, restaurants and tours
NetClearer reports Tripadvisor reviews that appear to break Tripadvisor’s rules: no first-hand visit, a conflict of interest, private data, threats or a demand for a free meal or room. We work for hotels, restaurants and tour operators in Spain and our other countries. €20 incl. VAT per review. Tripadvisor decides.

Typical Tripadvisor problems
Tourism businesses live on ratings. In Spain, the government’s action against fake reviews names Tripadvisor next to Google, Trustpilot and Booking (Marketing4eCommerce). Owners in Barcelona, Málaga or the Canary Islands tell the same stories: a guest who asks for a refund and promises a five-star rating in return, a review of the wrong hotel, a former cook who writes about hygiene under a false name, a review that gives the full name of a waiter.
What Tripadvisor will look at
- No first-hand experience: the author did not stay, eat or book with you, or writes about a friend’s visit.
- Conflict of interest: owners, staff, former staff, relatives or competing businesses.
- Blackmail or favours: a reviewer who asked for money, an upgrade or a free service in exchange for the review.
- Private information: names, phone numbers or other personal details of staff or guests.
- Hate, threats and off-topic text, such as political comments or remarks about another venue.
Tripadvisor does not take a review down because it is inaccurate in your view. A dispute about whether the soup was cold is not a ground. A management response is the right tool for that: it stays under the review and every reader sees both sides.
How we file a Tripadvisor report
- You send the review link, the booking or table records for the date, and any messages from the reviewer.
- You sign a mandate, or give us access to your listing as an additional user, so we can use the owner report tool.
- We select the ground and write a short explanation with the evidence. If the review is part of a blackmail attempt, we report the messages too.
- We follow Tripadvisor’s answer and, if it is negative, check whether a second report with new facts is possible. Your case is opened the same day you order.
- If the review contains personal data of a guest or employee, we can also prepare a GDPR erasure request to Tripadvisor.
Spain’s Ley 10/2025 and EU rules
Spain’s Ley 10/2025 (in force since 28 December 2025, with a transition period of about 12 months) says reviews must concern a purchase or use in the 30 days before they are posted, and bans buying and selling reviews (PwC). It applies first to a business’s own channels. On Tripadvisor it is a new argument; Tripadvisor applies its own policy. The EU Omnibus Directive has banned fake reviews since 2022. NetClearer is not a law firm and does not give legal advice.
Price
€20 incl. VAT per review request, €54 incl. VAT for 3, €149 incl. VAT for 10. No refund once your request has been filed. See all prices.
Frequently asked questions
A guest threatened a bad review unless we refunded the stay. Can we report it?
Yes. Asking for money or a favour in exchange for a review goes against Tripadvisor’s rules. Keep the messages, emails or notes from your staff with the date and time. We attach them to the report. A review written after such a demand is one of the strongest cases.
Can you remove a review because the facts are wrong?
Not on that basis alone. Tripadvisor does not judge who is right about the service. If the reviewer describes a visit that never took place, that is a different ground and we can report it. For factual disputes, a calm management response is usually the best answer.
Do you also handle Booking.com or TheFork?
Our current pages cover Tripadvisor, Google and Trustpilot. Send us a review from another travel platform through the contact form: we check whether it has a report route we can use before you pay anything. The price per review request stays €20 incl. VAT.
How long does Tripadvisor take?
Tripadvisor sets its own pace and does not promise a delay. Simple cases can be answered quickly; cases that need a check of the reviewer may take longer. We open your file the same day you order and tell you when Tripadvisor answers.
