Glassdoor employer reviews that break the community guidelines

NetClearer flags Glassdoor reviews that appear to break Glassdoor’s community guidelines: a manager named and attacked, confidential business details, threats, or a review by someone who never worked for you. We prepare the report for HR teams and company owners in our European countries. €20 incl. VAT per review. Glassdoor decides.

When a Glassdoor review becomes a problem

Job seekers read Glassdoor before they apply or accept an offer. A hard review about pay or management culture is part of the game: Glassdoor protects first-hand workplace experiences, even when they are unfair. The trouble starts when a review goes further. It names a team leader who is not a public figure and accuses him of a crime. It publishes internal figures or a client list. It is written by a candidate who was never hired, or by a competitor trying to scare away talent.

Grounds in Glassdoor’s guidelines

Glassdoor’s public guidelines describe content it takes down. The grounds we use most:

  • Names of non-public individuals at the company, especially with accusations.
  • Confidential or proprietary information, such as unreleased products, client names or internal numbers.
  • Threats, hate speech or harassment.
  • No first-hand experience: the author was not an employee, intern or contractor, or writes about what others said.
  • Conflict of interest, for example a review by a relative of the owner or a competitor.
  • Promotional or off-topic content, such as links to another company.

Glassdoor keeps reviewers anonymous and does not reveal their identity to employers on request. A request that asks to unmask an author will fail, and we do not file one. Identifying an author is a court matter: for that, consult a lawyer in your country.

How we prepare the flag

  1. You send the review link and tell us which passage is the problem: a name, a figure, a threat, a false employment claim.
  2. You sign a mandate and, if you have one, give us access to your free employer account. We never need a password.
  3. We flag the review with the matching guideline and quote the exact passage. Where the review exposes an employee’s personal data, we also prepare a GDPR erasure request in that employee’s name, signed by that employee.
  4. We follow the answer. Glassdoor’s operations in the EU fall under the Digital Services Act, which requires an internal complaint route after a refusal (art. 20). We use it when the first answer seems wrong.
  5. You receive a short written report. Your case opens the same day you order.

What we will not do

We do not try to clean a profile of honest criticism, and we never post fake employee reviews or ask staff to write positive ones under pressure. A critical review that describes a real workplace stays. If many reviews say the same thing, the best answer is usually inside the company, and a calm public reply. NetClearer is not a law firm and does not give legal advice.

Price: €20 incl. VAT per review, €54 incl. VAT for 3, €149 incl. VAT for 10. No refund once your request has been filed.

Frequently asked questions

Can Glassdoor tell us who wrote a review?

No. Glassdoor protects the anonymity of its reviewers and will not give names to an employer because of a report. Only a court can order a platform to disclose data about an author, and that route needs a lawyer. We focus on whether the content itself breaks the guidelines.

A former employee wrote that our manager is a thief. What can we do?

A review that names a non-public person and accuses him of a crime is a strong case under Glassdoor’s rules. We flag it and quote the passage. The manager can also ask Glassdoor to erase his personal data under the GDPR; we prepare that request for him to sign.

Will flagging a review make things worse?

It can, if the flag is weak. When Glassdoor takes a review down, the author receives a statement of reasons and may post again within the rules. That is why we only flag what clearly breaks a guideline, and leave honest criticism for a public reply.

Do you handle Indeed company reviews too?

Send us the link through the contact form. Job sites have different rules and report routes. We check whether a request fits before you order, and we tell you plainly if it does not. The price per review request is €20 incl. VAT on any platform we accept.
