Your home address and old company data on copy sites

NetClearer files GDPR requests to private sites that copy company registers: Drimble or Infobel in the Netherlands, SoloCheck in Ireland, aleo.com and rejestr.io in Poland, einforma in Spain, Lursoft in Latvia. When the official register has hidden or dropped your data, the copies should follow. €29 incl. VAT per site. The register itself stays as the law says.

The problem: the register changed, the copies did not

Sole traders, freelancers and company directors must give their details to an official register. Private sites copy those registers, add their own pages and rank well on Google. When the law changes, or when your business closes, the register updates. Many copies do not.

Under EU law you cannot simply ask an official company register to erase a director’s data: the Court of Justice said so in *Manni* (C-398/15, 9 March 2017), allowing only limited, case-by-case restrictions after a long time (CURIA). So we do not target registers. We target the copies, which have no such legal duty to publish.

Country by country

Register changes and the copy sites that kept the old data
CountryWhat changed at the sourceCopies we write to
NetherlandsSince 1 January 2022 the KvK hides home addresses; sole traders can also hide the business address (Staatsblad 2022, 475). The insolvency register hides data 6 months after a case endsDrimble, Infobel, TransFirm
IrelandThe CRO publishes directors’ home addresses; a reform towards a contact address will not remove past addresses (EY)SoloCheck (Vision-net) and other CRO copies
PolandCEIDG keeps sole-trader data; deregistration does not delete italeo.com (deletion form, 30 days), rejestr.io
SpainBORME publishes appointments, resignations and insolvencyeinforma, infoempresa, axesor, librebor
LatviaThe Enterprise Register is copied by private databasesLursoft, firmas.lv
DenmarkThe CVR publishes business owners’ data (Erhvervsstyrelsen)Copies checked case by case

Results differ by site. aleo.com offers a deletion form with a 30-day answer (aleo help); rejestr.io reports about 300 deletion requests a year and grants only a few. In Latvia, the data protection authority (DVI) fined Lursoft €65,000 in 2020 and checks that erasure requests are answered within one month.

Arguments we use

  • The source no longer publishes it: the copy keeps data that the law now hides, so the site’s interest in showing it is weak (GDPR art. 21 objection).
  • Storage limitation: data about a business closed years ago is no longer needed for any purpose (GDPR art. 5 and 17).
  • Accuracy: an old address or a role you left is wrong today (GDPR art. 16).
  • Safety, when it applies: threats, stalking or a risk statement. We never invent a risk; we use what you can document.

How we work

  1. You give us your name, your company number and the address that should disappear. We list every site and Google result that shows it.
  2. You sign a mandate and send ID. We file a request with each site the same day you order, using its own form where it has one.
  3. We track the answers and the one-month deadline, and ask Google to update or delist the pages for your name.
  4. If a site refuses, we prepare a complaint to your data protection authority, such as the Dutch AP, the Irish DPC, the Polish UODO or the Latvian DVI. You sign and send it.

NetClearer is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. €29 incl. VAT per site, €69 incl. VAT for 3, €199 incl. VAT for 10. No refund once your request has been filed.

Frequently asked questions

I hid my address at the KvK. Why is it still on Google?

Because sites such as Drimble, Infobel and TransFirm copied it before 2022, or copy older data, and Google still indexes those pages. Hiding at the KvK does not reach them. Each copy must be asked separately, and Google must then refresh or delist the result for your name.

Can you remove my name from the CRO in Ireland?

No. The CRO follows Irish company law, and exemptions for home addresses need a Garda risk statement. The reform towards a contact address will not remove past addresses. We work on SoloCheck and the other private copies, which are not obliged to publish your home address.

My company is closed. Can I ask for everything to go?

You can ask private copy sites to erase your personal data, such as your name and home address linked to the closed business. Some will keep basic company facts. The official register will keep its records as the law requires. We tell you per site what is realistic.

Does this help with an old bankruptcy?

In the Netherlands, the insolvency register hides a case 6 months after it ends, so copies that still show it are outdated. We use that argument with each copy and with Google. In other countries, retention rules differ, and we check them before you order.
